<p>Elder Shayne M. Bowen, First Counselor in the North America Southeast Area Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking services for the Knoxville Tennessee Temple on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The temple will be constructed on a 4.99-acre site located at 13001 Kingston Pike in Farragut, Tennessee. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 30,000 square feet.¹</p>

<p>On December 19, 2022, the official rendering of the Knoxville Tennessee Temple was publicly released.²</p>

<h4 class="label">Temple Site</h4>
<p>On October 31, 2022, the location of the Knoxville Tennessee Temple was announced as a 4.99-acre site located at 13001 Kingston Pike in Farragut. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.³</p>

<h4 class="label">Temple Announcement</h4>
<p>On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Knoxville Tennessee Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Knoxville is situated on the Tennessee River in the eastern part of the state. The Knoxville Tennessee Temple will be the third for the state. The first, the <a href="/memphis-tennessee-temple/" onmouseover="showTip('memphis-tennessee-temple')" onmouseout="unTip()">Memphis Tennessee Temple</a>, and the second, the <a href="/nashville-tennessee-temple/" onmouseover="showTip('nashville-tennessee-temple')" onmouseout="unTip()">Nashville Tennessee Temple</a>, were dedicated in 2000. Missionary work first began in 1834.
